Perhaps there was no one more at odds with Andre Braugher's Captain Raymond Holt than Gina Lintetti (Chelsea Peretti), his narcissistic but extremely intelligent assistant. Gina perfectly complimented Holt's uptight and stoic nature, making the two a memorable duo in the already-packed sitcom. Following Braugher's shocking death, Peretti took to Instagram to mourn her former captain in an emotional, tear-jerking statement. "Love you. Will miss your dulcet tones. Forever lucky to have gone on such a journey with you. Ringside seat. You were so funny to me and the epitome of still waters run deep," Peretti wrote in her post accompanying an on-set photo of Braugher holding a portrait of Captain Raymond Holt.
Peretti and Braugher spent considerable screentime together as both of their characters were often cooped up inside the precinct, forced to work together. Knowing that Peretti's time on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was largely spent with Braugher makes the statement all the more emotional. "I will always cherish our conversations, often with me hanging in your doorway barring your exit, and the insane opportunity to be your sidekick," Peretti reflected.
"Is it weird that I am also grieving for what Captain Holt meant to Gina? I really hoped and knew I would see you again. Hate that I won't," the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" concluded, wrapping up her statement. Several of Peretti and Braugher's costars, like Terry Crews and Joel McKinnon Miller, took to the actor's Instagram comments to share their support.
