This includes a toffee and apple muffin, espresso roast blondie, egg bites, mushroom and egg muffin and American salami focaccia.

The famous Pumpkin Spice Latte is a taste sensation with winter spices of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, but how many calories are in it? Read on to find out…

Pumpkin Spice Latte calories

According to the official Starbucks website, a Grande (medium) Pumpkin Spice Latte has 390 calories, whilst a Venti (large) has 470.

If you’re going for a Tall (small) coffee, this will have 300 calories and a Short (extra small) will come in at 210.

These calories are based on a normal Pumpkin Spice Latte made with 2% cows milk, one espresso shot and topped with whipped cream.

However, you can use Starbucks’ online calculator to customise your latte, changing the size, milk, flavours and toppings and it will tell you the number of calories.

The full ingredients list

Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte is made with espresso and milk and flavoured with spices of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, designed to taste like a Pumpkin Pie.

The full ingredients include milk, pumpkin spice sauce, brewed espresso and vanilla syrup. The pumpkin spice sauce is what gives it its iconic flavour.

This is made from sugar, condensed skim milk, pumpkin puree, fruit and vegetable juice, natural flavours, annatto, salt and potassium sorbate.

Then, it is topped with whipped cream and a yummy pumpkin spice topping made from cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove.

Plus, if your server is feeling nice, your latte might also be topped with Cinnamon Dolce Sprinkles which are made of cinnamon and sugar.

History of the Pumpkin Spice Latte

The iconic drink was actually first launched in 2003 but didn’t gain the popularity it holds today until the mid-2010s.

It was created by a man called Peter Dukes who joined the company in 2001 as Product Manager for Espresso and has worked there ever since.

Peter, who is now Director of Global Growth and Concepts, came up with the genius idea and it first hit Starbucks stores in fall 2003.

It was initially only launched in 100 stores across Vancouver and Washington D.C. and later rolled out across the world as it was hugely popular.

However, he told CBS in 2021 that he didn’t think pumpkin spice coffee would ever make it to stores as it wasn’t as popular as chocolate, caramel and cinnamon in the trials.

Little did he know, almost two decades later, it would one of the coffee chain’s best sellers and an iconic part of autumn culture.
