Catherine Kasavuli Illness:- Kenyan news anchor Catherine Kasavuli was born on 17 June 1962 and died on 29 December 2022. Prior to being the nation’s first female news anchor, Kasavuli had held positions at several of Kenya’s top television networks, including The Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation, Citizen Television, and Kenya Television Network. When Catherine start her career in radio at age 18, her uncle encouraged her to apply because he frequently observed her reading the Bible. Kasavuli has worked for a number of famous television networks before becoming the first female news anchor in the country.

KBC acting MD Samuel Maina has reported that veteran TV news anchor Catherine Kasavuli passed away at the age of 60 at the Kenyatta National Hospital. Since October 26, 2022, Kasavuli, who was fighting cancer, has been a patient in the KNH private wing. Kasavuli had given the public the reassurance that she was doing well and preparing for a second medical surgery last month. The former KTN news anchor also discussed lessons she’s learned recently, highlighting the value of family.
Battle With Cancer
In November, when she was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital in late October fighting cervical cancer, friends and colleagues in the media business rallied the community to give blood for an immediate transfusion. The womb’s neck is affected by cancer, which is caused by the formation of abnormal cells in the body lining. Despite being avoidable, this condition ranks as the fourth most frequently diagnosed cancer globally and the fourth greatest cause of cancer death in women. After hearing the news of her passing, media colleagues expressed their condolences and lauded her as an experienced journalist who had left a huge void in the field.
Career
Between the 1990s and 2015, when she stopped appearing on screens, Kasavuli’s journalism career grew rapidly. Later, in July 2021, she will make a comeback as a prime time newsreader on KBC, hosting the Legend Edition. As a radio continuity announcer for the Voice of Kenya, afterwards known as KBC, Kasavuli started her career in 1980. She later transferred from radio to KBC television in 1985. She began professional study at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication two years later (KIMC). In March 1990, she joined KTN, becoming the first news anchor in Kenya to broadcast live.
