“Bound in Sorrow” is a season-long questline featured in the Season 17 of Destiny 2, Season of the Haunted. Since new quest objectives are added each week, this questline will have a total of two digits — around 30 to 40 — steps you need to clear. Because of that, let us help you walk through the seasonal “Bound in Sorrow” Quest in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted with this guide.
Destiny 2 “Bound in Sorrow” Quest – Week 1 Guide
Step 1: Obtain 500 Vestiges of Dread
First of all, you need to get 500 Vestiges of Dread. You can earn them from various Activities during Season of the Haunted, including Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard, Derelict Leviathan Events, Patrols, and Chests.
Step 2: Complete Nightmare Containment Tier III and 1 Bound Presence
Now run Nightmare Containment up to Tier III and deposit the 500 Vestiges of Dread to the Nightmare Harvester at the end of the Public Event to get a Bound Presence. Nightmare Containment is only available on the Derelict Leviathan on the Moon. Pick the Containment option to spawn near other Guardians waiting for the Public Event. You can read more details about Nightmare Containment and Bound Presence in our How to Complete Bound Presence guide.
Step 3: Complete “Sever – Shame”
Then open the map menu, go to the Moon, and select the Sever Quest icon next to the Derelict Leviathan in Castellum. Keep in mind that you will need to shoot Egregore plants to open some doors.
When you run the “Sever – Shame” Quest to help out Crow, your Power Level will be automatically raised to 1,550 PL, so you don’t have to worry even if you’re playing solo.
Step 4: Go to the H.E.L.M
With most of all the chores done (for Week 1 of “Bound in Sorrow” anyway), you want to back to the H.E.L.M area and speak with Crow. Then lastly, head over to the left-wing of the H.E.L.M., to the Crown of Sorrow, to meet with Eris and discuss Crow’s problem.

Step 5: Go to the Crown of Sorrow
Meet up with Eris once again in the Crown of Sorrow part of the H.E.L.M. Don’t forget to upgrade the Crown and grab some Bounties while you’re at it.
Step 6: Obtain 500 Vestiges of Dread
Just like in the first week, you’ll need to collect Vestiges of Dread again. Run any Activity Playlists such as Strike, Crucible, and Gambit, or do the ones on the Derelict Leviathan. If you already have 500 though, you don’t need to do it, and the step will be automatically completed.
Step 7: Complete Nightmare Containment Tier III and 1 Bound Presence
Again, go back to the Derelict Leviathan, complete Nightmare Containment, and get a Bound Presence. If you need help, don’t forget, our How to Complete Bound Presence guide is always ready to help.
Step 8: Complete “Sever – Reconciliation”
New Sever Quest will show up, continuing the mess you and Crow run into last time. Run “Sever – Reconciliation” Quest to finish this step and obtain a piece of Pinnacle loot.
Step 9: Go to the H.E.L.M
It’s time to head back to the H.E.L.M. and speak with Crow. After that’s done, chat with Eris in the Crown of Sorrow to receive a Figment of Darkness that can be used to upgrade the Crown.

Step 10: Go to the Crown of Sorrow
As you can expect, the third week of Bound in Sorrow starts out with talking with Eris at the Crown of Sorrow in the H.E.L.M again. Well, this is an online game; after all, lots of backtracking is not unusual.
Step 11: Obtain 500 Vestiges of Dread
Time to gather Vestiges of Dread again. Run any Activity Playlists such as Strike, Crucible, and Gambit, or do the ones on the Derelict Leviathan. If you already have 500 though, you don’t need to do it, and the step will be automatically completed.
Step 12: Complete Nightmare Containment Tier III and 1 Bound Presence
Head back to the Derelict Leviathan, complete Nightmare Containment, and get a Bound Presence once more. If you need help, check out our How to Complete Bound Presence guide.
Step 13: Complete “Sever – Grief”
This time, the Sever Quest name is “Sever – Grief.” Unlike the previous two weeks, this time, you’ll fight in the Pleasure Garden area instead of the Gauntlet, and the boss you’ll have to fight will be different.
Look up towards the corridor with the electrified platform if you find a wrench that seems to be unusable. Carefully traverse through the pipes to get back to the Egregore plant. Afterward, just shoot the plant and get the wrench like usual. Check out our guide on the “Sever – Grief” Quest if you need more help.
Step 14: Go to the Tower
With the “Sever – Grief” Quest completed, it’s time to travel to the Tower area and talk to Zavala.
Step 15: Go to the Crown of Sorrow
After meeting Zavala, head over to the Crown of Sorrow again and have a chat with Eris.

Step 16: Go to the Crown of Sorrow
Once again, start your week off by chatting with Eris for a bit.
Step 17: Obtain 500 Vestiges of Dread
Run any Activity Playlists such as Strike, Crucible, and Gambit, or do the ones on the Derelict Leviathan to acquire 500 Vestiges. If you already have 500 though, you don’t need to do it, and the step will be automatically completed.
Step 18: Complete Nightmare Containment Tier III and 1 Bound Presence
Head back to the Derelict Leviathan, complete Nightmare Containment, and get a Bound Presence once more. If you need help, check out our How to Complete Bound Presence guide.
Step 19: Complete “Sever – Forgiveness”
This time, the Sever Quest name on the Moon is “Sever – Forgiveness.” The quest is a bit tougher than before so if you can group up with friends, things might go much smoother than playing alone.
Step 20: Go to the H.E.L.M.
Go back to the H.E.L.M. area and you should receive a transmission from Commander Zavala. These bits of dialogue could be foreshadowing future events, and if you’re a fan of the lore you might want to take notes.
Step 21: Go to the Crown of Sorrow
End your week off by speaking with Eris.
