iPhone and iPad apps make great gifts. They’re affordable, can be selected according to the recipient’s tastes so that they’re more personal than a gift card, and are easy and quick to send. The hardest part is picking an app.
To send an app as a gift, you need an iOS device — iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. If you don’t own one, you can send a gift certificate from iTunes on your computer. The recipient can use it to purchase mobile apps on the App Store.
Instructions in this article apply to gifting an app, meaning that you pay for the app but you send it to someone else. To share apps among family members, set up Family Sharing.
How to Give an iOS App to Someone
Here’s how to send an iPhone or iPad app to someone from your iOS device:
Open the App Store on your device.
Tap the app you want to send as a gift to go to the download page.
Tap the Share icon located to the right of the app price.
Choose Gift App.
Sign in to your Apple account if prompted. Reset your Apple ID password if you can’t log in.
Select Share App to send the link to a friend over email, social media, or another means so they can buy or download the app.
Fill out the details, including the recipient’s email address, your name, and an optional message.
Tap Today to schedule a time to send the app (or leave it to gift the app right away), then select Next.
Choose a theme that the recipient will see when they open your gift, then select Next.
Review the details. If the information is correct, select Buy. Or, choose Back to make changes to the order.
How to Send a Gift Card With iTunes
Another way to send a gift to an iOS user is through iTunes. This method is great if you don’t have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch or if you prefer to send a general gift card without attaching a specific app to it.
Someone who receives a gift certificate can use the gift card to download apps, music, and other media from the App Store.
Open iTunes and select Store.
Choose Send Gift.
Enter the recipient’s email address and an optional message, as well as your name so that the sender knows who you are.
Pick a gift amount, or choose Other to enter any amount between $15 and $200.
Indicate whether you want the gift certificate sent now or at some point within the next 365 days.
Choose Next.
Select a theme for the virtual gift card, then select Next.
Review the order, and if it’s correct, select Buy Gift to charge your account, send the gift certificate to the recipient, and receive a receipt over email. Or, select Back to make changes.

In this step by step guide you will learn how to gift any app to another iPhone user using from an iOS device. These steps should work with iOS 13, iOS 14 and iOS 15.

So, did you put off holiday shopping until the eleventh hour? Never fear. If the special someone on your list has an iPhone, iPad or Android device, there’s still an easy—and best of all, instant—way to put a smile on her face: give her an app.
In just a few taps, you can gift iOS apps directly through your iPhone or iPad, and you can send gifted apps instantly or on a specific date in the future.
And while Google’s Play store still doesn’t allow you to gift apps (what’s the holdup?) directly over your Android phone or tablet, you can still wrap up an Android app (or an e-card for an Android app, anyway) with a minimum of fuss.

Google Play gift cards are available online and from retails such as Walmart, Target, and Sam’s Club.
- No, you can’t gift an app through the Google Play app store, but you can give a Google Play gift card to a special someone. Available in denominations of $10, $25, and $50, Google Play gift cards are available online and at brick-and-mortar retailers like Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, and Sam’s Club, and they can be used to gift apps, music, and books sold on the Google Play online marketplace.
- Need to gift an Android app instantly? Amazon has its own Android store stocked with thousands of popular apps, which can be redeemed with a personalized gift card—and unlike Google Play gift cards, you can send Amazon gift cards via e-mail.
- Live someone other than the U.S.? If so, good news: Google Play gift cards are available at international retailers in more than two dozen countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Spain, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

When you want to get someone a gift and have no idea what to buy, it can become frustrating. Whether for the gift-giving season, Mother’s or Father’s Day, or a birthday, a digital gift can be the perfect present.
Apple makes easy for you to buy a book, music, app, game, movie, or TV show as a gift. All you need is your recipient’s email address and you’re on your way to making their day.
We’ll show you how to send gifts in Books, Music, the App Store, and the iTunes Store on all your Apple devices.
Give digital gifts
What you can buy where
You might think that you can just gift an item from any Apple store on any device, but unfortunately, you cannot (currently).
So before you read on about how to buy your gift, keep these locations in mind to know where you can buy it.
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: App Store (apps and games), iTunes Store (albums, movies, TV shows), and Apple Books (books and audiobooks)
Mac (and PC with iTunes): iTunes Store (songs and albums) or Apple Books (books and audiobooks)
In a nutshell, if you want to gift a single song, you need to use your computer and if you want to gift apps, TV shows, or movies, you need to use your iOS device.
Send a gift from iPhone or iPad
On your iOS device, head to the store for the type of item you want to buy: the App Store, iTunes Store, or Apple Books app.
1) Then locate the item you want to gift and do one of the following:
- In the App Store, tap Share >Gift App.
- In the iTunes Store, tap Share >Gift.
- In the Books app store, tap the Gift.
2) Enter your recipient’s email address and optionally a message for the occasion.
3) Choose when you would like to send the gift and tap Next. You can send it immediately or tap Today to schedule a date.
4) Select a theme for the email and tap Next.
5) Review your order and tap Buy at the top.
6) Confirm your gift by tapping Buy Now, also at the top.
Send a gift from Mac
Open the iTunes Store in the Music app or the Apple Books app, depending on the gift you want to give. On PC, simply open iTunes. Then, follow these steps.
1) Click the Sharing options arrow next to the item’s price.
2) Select Gift This [Book, Song, Album].
3) Enter your recipient’s email address and optionally a message for the occasion.
4) Choose when you would like to send the gift and click Next. You can send it immediately or click Today to schedule a date.
5) Select a theme for the email and click Next.
6) Review your order and click Buy Gift.
Notes on buying gifts
Here are some things to note when purchasing apps, books, and music as gifts.
- You cannot send a free item as a gift. Simply share a link to the item if you like.
- Your recipient must have an Apple ID in your country or region.
- You can cancel a scheduled gift up to two days before it’s delivered by contacting Apple Support.
- You cannot use store credit to purchase a gift. The cost will be deducted from the payment method you have on file.
- You cannot purchase gifts if you’re part of a Family Sharing group with Ask to Buy enabled for your account.
Wrapping it up
If you’re not sure which app, movie, album, or book your recipient might like, you can always send them store credit as a present instead. This lets them use the funds you give as a gift to purchase an item of their choice.
Are you going to gift an item from the App Store, Books, or iTunes?
Consider giving an app for the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch as a gift this holiday season.
Have a family member who has an iTunes gift card on his or her Christmas list this holiday season?
Odds are you have at least one person who does. If you aren’t the gift-card-giving type, however, and prefer something that requires a bit more thought be put into it, consider gifting an app.
Gifting an app allows you to pay for the app using your iTunes account, while sending the recipient a promo code for the app; your giftee can then download the app free of charge.
The process can be carried out either in iTunes or through the App Store app on an iOS device. Let’s take a look how to do it on your iOS device first.
- You can gift an app using an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. Launch the App Store and find the app you want to send as a gift. Once you have found the app and are viewing all of the details, scroll down to the bottom. There you will find a Gift This App button. Tap on it. Screenshot by Jason Cipriani
- You will be provided with a summary of the app; press Next after you have confirmed it is the app you would like to send. Screenshot by Jason Cipriani
- Enter your name followed by the recipient’s name and e-mail address. You can also scroll down and enter a note to be sent with the app if you’d like. Press Next when you’re done. Screenshot by Jason Cipriani
- On the last screen you will see an order summary. Verify that the name, e-mail address, and app are all correct. Once you are satisfied, tap on Buy Gift. The recipient will then be sent an e-mail to alert him or her of your gift.
Now that we have seen the process for using an iOS device, let’s look at how to gift an app using iTunes. The process is basically the same, with a few minor tweaks.
Screenshot by Jason Cipriani
- Navigate to the app you would like to gift. While on the detail page for the app, you can click on the arrow to the right of the price of the app. Doing so will provide you with a list of options. Select Gift This App. Screenshot by Jason Cipriani
Using iTunes you are given an option to have the gift e-mailed, or you can print it out and hand deliver it. Enter the required information to e-mail the certificate and click on Continue.
If you are printing the certificate, you will only be required to enter your name, recipient’s name, and a note.
If want to send this same app to more than one person, you can enter multiple e-mail address by placing a comma between each of them. This allows you to go through the purchase process only once.

Sorry, an iTunes gift card can’t be used to gift apps to other family members. Nice try, though.

A good gift-list app can sync across platforms and even figure out which stores have the items you need. Here’s what to download on Android and iOS.
The status of your holiday gift list is…complicated. It exists on Post-its and paper scraps, as entries in your phone’s Notes app and bookmarks in your browser. That can make holiday shopping a confusing task and inevitably lead to forgotten items.
Before that happens, put yourself first on your holiday gift list and download a gift-list app. Once you make your list, you won’t have to check it twice because a good gift-list app handles most of the hard work: syncing across platforms and figuring out which stores have the items you’re looking for, as well as things like the sizes of your gift recipients.
A gift-list app is probably one of the least expensive gifts you’ll buy this season because most are free or under a dollar. It will certainly save you from some holiday blues and could help your holiday budget from going into the red. One note: a few of the apps are very specifically Christmas-themed in name and look but function fine for any holiday at any time of the year. Do you need a last-minute Christmas present? Forgotten that one friend or family member? One obvious solution for the international Apple fan in your life is a gift card. However, doing this is not as simple as it may seem if the person doesn’t live in the same country as you.
Sending an Apple Gift Card to Someone Living Abroad
The first, most important thing to know is this – when sending any kind of Apple gift card to someone in a different country, you must purchase it from the Apple online store of the country in which THEY live. For example, if one of my colleagues living in the U.S. wishes to purchase one for me living in the UK they must buy it from the UK Apple online store. Not only is an Apple gift card only valid in the country in which it is purchased, doing this means it will be sent to the recipient in the right currency.
When you get to the Apple online store in the right country there is, at the time of this writing, a gift card option on the top carousel . Click on that, and then go through the purchase process . To start this, select the ‘Send by Email’ option. Fill in all the details, and the person you wish to send the Apple Gift Card to should receive it. An exchange from the U.S. to UK that we tested here at The Mac Observer happened within minutes. However, it can take up to 24 hours.
Buy the Right Thing
There are various types of gift cards. Currently, the all-in-one option is only available in the U.S. In other countries, there are App Store & iTunes Gift Cards, which allow the recipient to purchase from (you guessed it,) iTunes and the App Store. There are also Apple Store Gift Cards, which allow the recipients to purchase products in physical and online retail stores. Check which kind you are purchasing before you hit send!
Of course, sending an Apple Gift Card to someone in the same country as you is easy. Just head over to the Apple online store and purchase it!
There was a discussion on all of this on a recent episode of the Daily Observations podcast.

Learn how to add an Apple gift card to a child’s account or use an iTunes gift card for Family Sharing.
* This post is part of iPhone Life‘s Tip of the Day newsletter. Sign Up. *
If you’re interested in learning how to add an Apple gift card to a family account or to an individual family member’s account, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll cover the Ask to Buy feature, Family Sharing, and how to redeem iTunes gift cards for different family members.
Why You’ll Love This Tip
- Redeem Apple gift cards to a family sharing account or a child’s account.
- Easily check the remaining iTunes gift card balance on your account, the family account, or a child’s account.
- Learn how to add an iTunes Gift Card to your Family Sharing account, redeem an iTunes card on your child’s iPhone, and check an iTunes gift card balance.
Add an iTunes Gift Card to Your Family Sharing Account
As the family organizer, you’re charged for every purchase made by members of your Family Group; it’s all billed to whichever credit card you assigned to your Apple ID when you set up your Family Group. Applying a gift card to your own Apple ID means that purchases made by other members of the Family Group will be charged to your credit card, but any purchases you make while logged into your Apple ID will be charged to the gift card, including shared family subscriptions such as Apple Music or iCloud storage. This method requires some bookkeeping on your part, as you’ll want to keep track of how much credit you still have on the gift card vs. how much each family member is spending via Family Sharing. To add an iTunes gift card to your account on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch:
- Open the iTunes Store app.
Tap the Featured tab.
Scroll to the very bottom of the screen and tap Redeem.
Tap Use Camera to scan the iTunes gift card instead of typing it in manually.
Tap Enter Code Manually if you prefer to type the code.
Once you add your iTunes gift card, all of your purchases will be applied to the gift card until it is depleted. After that, your credit card will be charged for any additional purchases.
Redeem an iTunes Gift Card on Your Child’s iPhone
You might prefer to apply the iTunes gift card directly to your child’s Apple ID (or that of another family member) rather than trying to keep a ledger of shared credit for your Family Group. If you add an iTunes gift card to a child account, you can still use the Ask to Buy feature to approve their purchases. Because the card is applied to their Apple ID and not the Family Sharing group, the cost of their purchases will come off of their gift card until it’s depleted. If you have your child’s iPhone handy, then you can log into their Apple ID on their device and add the gift card to their account following the steps in the previous section. You could also just add the gift card to your own account balance and send your child or family member Apple Cash instead, since Apple Cash can be used to make purchases from the App Store, the iTunes Store, and Books.
Check an iTunes Gift Card Balance
You can check your iTunes card balance at any time. This comes in handy if you want to cut back on your kid’s purchasing power using Ask to Buy before the gift card is depleted and your credit card starts getting charged. To check the gift card balance for your account, your Family Sharing account, or the account of your child or another family member, follow these steps:
- Open the App Store app.
Tap on the Apple ID icon at the top of the screen.
If the Apple ID in question has a gift card balance, it will appear underneath their Apple ID. As you can see, I have no credit right now!
Now you know how to redeem an Apple gift card on your child’s account and how to check their iTunes card balance. I hope this information helps you keep everyone’s gift cards in order with a bit less confusion and a lot more fun!

With Apple Pay , iPhone and iPad users can send money to friends and family using the Messages app in just only a few steps.
You don’t have to have an active Apple Card to send money through iMessage, either. As long as you have Apple Pay set up on your device, you can send any other iMessage user using your debit card.
How to send money in the Messages app on an iPhone or iPad
1. Launch the Messages app from your iPhone or iPad and open an existing conversation, or start a new one. Note that you can’t send money in group chats.
2. Once you’ve opened a conversation with the person you want to send money to, tap the Applications icon next to the text box.
3. In the Applications toolbar, select the Apple Pay icon — it’s black, with a small white Apple logo and the word “Pay.”
4. Using the window that appears, enter how much money you want to send, and then tap “Pay.”
If you haven’t set up Apple Cash or Apple Pay you’ll be prompted to do so. Follow the steps to set up Apple Pay here.
5. Once you’ve entered a valid money amount and pressed “Pay,” it’ll be put into the text box like a regular text message. Send it, and you’ll be asked to confirm the payment. By default, it’ll use either Apple Cash or your default debit card to pay it — to change to another payment method, tap the arrow on the right, and select another from the list. A blue check mark will appear next to the card you’ve chosen.
6. After you’ve selected your Apple Cash card or debit card, confirm the transaction by double tapping the lock button of your device twice. Then use Face ID, Touch ID, or enter your passcode to finish.
7. The money will be sent to the recipient’s Apple Pay account, and will remain there until they accept it or seven days pass. After seven days without the payment being accepted, the payment will expire, and you’ll have to send it again.

Apple released a new gift card product today that unifies the previous App Store & iTunes Store gift cards with the Apple Store gift cards. The new approach offers a much simpler experience. Read along for how to manage and use the new universal Apple Gift Cards.
The previous approach of having separate gift cards for the App Store & iTunes Store and the Apple Store left the door open for confusion and frustration for those not dialed into the difference which was then passed on to gift getters.
Now when you redeem an Apple Gift Card, it’s added to what’s called your Apple Account Balance (tied to your Apple ID) and can be used across the App Store & iTunes Store (including iOS and Mac) and the Apple Store for any products in the US. That also means you can use the balance for iCloud and other Apple subscriptions like Apple TV+, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, Apple Books, and more.

How quickly things change. That’s old news.
A recent App Store update has now made it possible to gift directly from your iPhone or iPad.
It’s easy to do and very convenient.
Here is how to gift an app directly from your iPhone or iPad:
Tap on the App Store icon, and navigate to the app that you would like to send as a gift.
Once there, look up to the top of the screen for the Share arrow.
Tap on the Share arrow.
Tapping the Share arrow will bring up this pop-up box, with several ‘action’ choices in it.
Notice that one of the choices is “Gift”
Once you tap on “Gift”, you will be taken to a screen where you can type in your information: the email address of the receiver, and a message from you (if you like).
You can also choose a ‘date of delivery’ for up to 90 days in advance. You can time your gift to arrive in your receiver’s email inbox exactly on their birthday, on a holiday, or any other favorite occasion.
Show your friends and family members how easy and convenient secure communication and privacy protection can be. Give away Threema to your loved ones in a few simple steps:
- Purchase one or more licenses in the Threema shop (There’s no way to give away apps in Google Play.)
- After succesful payment, you will receive an email containing the license key(s)
- Distribute the license to your presentee(s), e.g., via email
- Gift recipients can redeem the licenses here
- (New versions of the app can be automatically updated using the “About Threema” screen.)
On an iOS device (iPhone or iPad):
- Look up Threema in the App Store.
- Tap the Share button
- In the Share Sheet that appears, tap “Gift App…”, and follow the on-screen instructions
For more detailed instructions, please refer to Apple’s guide.

Moving to a different operating system
Since the different app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play, and Huawei AppGallery) don’t share their license data, Threema has to be purchased again when switching to a different platform.
Important data, such as your Threema ID and your contacts, can be transferred using Threema Safe. Threema Safe backups do not include chats, media files, and profile pictures of contacts and groups.
Reinstalling Threema on the same operating system
Purchase via App Store, Google Play, or Huawei AppGallery
After resetting your phone or switching to a new phone, it may be necessary to reinstall Threema. The App Store (iOS) as well as Google Play and the Huawei AppGallery (Android) allow to reinstall any purchased app at no additional cost. The only requirement is that you use the same store account (i.e., the same Apple ID or Google account, etc.) you used for the initial purchase. The store then will display an “Install” button instead of a “Buy” button. In case you still see a “Buy” button, please follow these instructions.
Purchase via Threema-Shop
If you have purchased the Android version in our store, you can download and then reinstall it with the same license key. If you have lost your license key, you can retrieve it. Please note: Threema versions from the Google Play Store are not unlocked using a license key, and you can’t retrieve a license for a Google Play Store version. Because Google Play’s and the Threema Shop’s terms are not identical, licences can’t be transferred between the two sales platforms.
Paid apps are sold by different providers (Apple and Google). These providers don’t share license data. Hence, it is impossible to move licenses from one platform to another. For this reason, the app has to be purchased again for the new operating system when switching from one platform to another.
Use Threema Safe to transfer your most important Threema data to the new OS.
- Google Play: For most Android users, this is the best (i.e., most straightforward) way to get Threema.
- Threema Shop: If you would like to download Threema without a Google account and/or if you would like to pay anonymously with Bitcoin, the Threema Shop is for you.
- Huawei AppGallery: In case you use a Huawei device that’s not equipped with Google Services, download Threema from the Huawei AppGallery.
iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch)
Download Threema from the Apple App Store.
To learn more about the current version’s changes and improvements, read the change log.
There is no age restriction, and it’s generally safe to use Threema at any age.
EU users who are under 16 years of age are required by law to obtain parental consent if they wish to link a phone number and/or email address with their Threema ID. (If Threema is used anonymously, no parental consent is required.)
The app’s rating in the Google Play Store is determined by the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC).
There is a price plan available for public educational institutions: Threema Education
If you would like to give away Threema as a present to friends or family members, please refer to this guide.
If you would like to use Threema in your organization, please turn to Threema Work, which was specifically designed for this purpose and can be distributed to any number of users without effort.
Schools may use Threema Education, while nonprofit organizations benefit from a special offer.
If you purchase the Threema app from the Threema Shop, you may have to adjust your device’s security settings in order to install and/or update the app.
Android 8 and newer
- If the dialog “For security reasons, you cannot install unknown apps from this source on your smartphone” is displayed after downloading the APK file from the Threema Shop, tap on “Settings”, and activate “Trust this source”.
Android 7 and older
- Activate “Unknown sources” in your device’s security settings.
- It is recommended to deactivate “Unknown sources” once you have installed Threema.
You can quickly send content from apps on your iPad or iPhone to OneNote. You can send content from Office documents, from clipped content on web pages, from formatted text or file attachments, or you can send a photo.
To use this feature:
Your device must be running iOS 8 or later.
You must be signed into OneNote and have at least one notebook open.
You must enable OneNote on the sharing menu of the app you want to share from.
In OneNote, sign in to and open at least one of your notebooks.
In the app you want to share from, tap the Share menu (for example, while looking at a picture in the Photos app).
If you’re using a Microsoft 365 application like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, tap Share > Send a Copy > Send with Another App.
If OneNote isn’t already listed, tap More to display the Activities list.
Under Activities, tap the slider next to OneNote to enable sharing and then tap Done.
Select a OneNote Location where you want to store your content.
Add a title and note (optional), and then tap Send.
Tip: In iOS 8, and later, you can reorder the icons of apps that you frequently use for sharing. To move OneNote to the front of the list, tap and hold the OneNote icon, and then drag it to the position you want.
Although sharing to OneNote from other apps can be done offline, your notebook must be synced to OneDrive at least once after sharing, otherwise the content will be not be available on your computer or other devices that use the same notebook.
We developed an iOS app for a client in XCode. Now we want to upload the app to their account. In Android this is dead simple, you just build an apk file and send it to them. Then they can upload it to Google Play or any other service. iOS seems horrifically complicated.
The client is not technical, so sending them the source code and having them deploy the app from XCode is not an option.
We have been able to create them an app in our own iTunesConnect account and have them test the app using TestFlight.
They have created an iTunesConnect account, and were able to add our account to their “team” and we can now see the app they created, but we cannot upload a build to it from XCode. Not sure exactly what is required, how to upload to the other team, or if their is an easier way?
9 Answers 9
My first guess, if you were given a technical role on your clients iTunes Account, you cannot use Xcode to upload the build. You have to be of admin role for that.
Use Xcode to export an IPA file. Then use the ‘Application Loader’ to submit to your clients account.
Also be sure you’re added correctly on iTunes Connect, because only in the developer account are you added to the ‘team’. In iTunes Connect you are added as a ‘user’ and assigned a ‘role’.
EDIT:
So there’s not any confusion: There are two parts to this process, code signing, and uploading to iTunes. You need to be on your clients Developer Account team to properly code sign the app, with a distribution certificate and App Store provisioning profile created via their account. Once you have a properly code-signed IPA with those credentials, then you need to upload to their iTunes Connect account in the manner I described above.
App Store.

It’s hard to go wrong giving the gift of a smartphone or tablet. Here are some ways to make it the perfect present, no matter the occasion.
From birthday to holiday, graduation to retirement, there’s one item that’s appropriate for all of your gift-giving occasions: a smartphone or tablet.
Giving the gift of a smartphone or tablet shows you want your loved ones to be connected, informed, organized and entertained. Not many other gifts hold such promise. There are a variety of ways to make someone’s day with the gift of a smartphone or tablet:
How to choose the right smartphone.
When it comes to smartphones, the list of things you can do with them keeps growing. Beyond video calling and texting, you can web-surf or game your way with ultra-fast 5G 1 capabilities, take and share great pics and videos with portrait and cinematic photo and video modes, email friends, browse social media apps and catch up on the news. You can even read your favorite digital magazine or use your smartphone as a GPS device, health and fitness tracker, flashlight, radio or alarm clock.
With that in mind, think about how your loved one would use a smartphone. Do they travel a lot? Consider a compact design that makes it easier to carry around. Are they a fitness buff? Look for a smartphone that monitors their heart rate.
Here are some other features worth noting:
- Large HD displays for better viewing, like on the Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G. This feature is ideal for watching movies, playing games and working on the go.
- Security features, such as face recognition on newer iPhone models, help keep data safe and secure.
- Multitasking options help you get more done, with the capability to use split screen functionality, such as with the Motorola g power (2021).
- Long-lasting battery life on some smartphones can allow video playback or music streaming to go on for hours on a single charge.
- Portrait and cinematic photography and video recording modes on new smartphones from Apple, Samsung, and Google provide benefits such as enhanced focus, the ability to capture true-to-life skin tones, automatic background blurring, and beyond.
- What operating system does it use: Android™ or iOS? iOS is great for those looking for compatibility with other Apple products (like the Apple iPad, the Apple Watch, and more), while Android™ may be better suited for those looking to pair with Samsung watches or other Android™ products. Learn which operating system is right for your loved one.
How to pick the right tablet.
But maybe your loved one would prefer a tablet, which would let them stay connected and entertained on the go while enjoying the benefits of a larger screen. And because a tablet is still more compact than a laptop, it could help them unwind, stay productive or get some work while out and about.
You’ll also want to consider screen size and other features you think they’d need most. Verizon offers a variety of tablets that can take advantage of its 5G network. Some great options to check out include the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE 5G or the Apple iPad 11-inch iPad Pro (2021).
Consider pay-as-you-go convenience.
If you want to gift a smartphone without taking on a regular monthly bill, you might want to look into giving the gift of a Verizon Prepaid monthly plan on a new 5G smartphone. For the gift that truly keeps on giving, add a little extra money to the account here and there so you can enjoy cool apps, ringtones, web surfing and more. Explore all Verizon’s phone plan options here.
Great Verizon prepaid phones include the Samsung Galaxy A21, the Apple iPhone 12 mini and the TCL SIGNA. If there’s already a smartphone on hand, it’s easy to activate it online. Get more data when you need it with our flexible data packages.
Gift a smartphone or tablet.
You can save yourself time and a long-term commitment by purchasing a smartphone or tablet at retail price and letting your loved one sign up for the plan. There are new models available as well as Certified Pre-Owned phones for a small budget. You buy the phone or tablet, and then let your loved one pay the charges for the services he or she wants.
When in doubt, go for a gift card.
Having trouble finding which smartphone or tablet to give? Think Verizon gift card, and give your special someone the opportunity to choose exactly the right phone or tablet. Choose from $25, $50, $75 or $100 cards to fit your budget. Use toward a new device or accessory purchase online or at any Verizon wireless store, or even to pay a Verizon wireless bill.
No matter the occasion, the gift of a smartphone from Verizon is sure to win you major points.

If you wanted to buy yourself or someone you love an Apple gift card, it used to be a bit complicated. Apple offered two separate gift cards: an iTunes card, which you could use for purchases on the App Store, iTunes Store, and / or to increase your iCloud storage, and an Apple Store card, which was used on purchases made at the company’s retail or online stores. But now, Apple has merged the two gift cards into a single card simply called Apple Gift Card.
Spotted by MacRumors, the new Apple Gift Card can be used to buy any of its products — from games on Apple Arcade to purchases at its retail store.
The Apple Gift Card also has a new look: it’s a white card with a colored Apple logo in the center. The design of the logo can change; in total, there are eight designs for the digital card and five for the physical version. As with its previous cards, Apple allows you to choose the amount you want to add to the card.
The Apple Store card and the App Store and iTunes card will continue to be valid as forms of payment, but the latter can now be used to purchase items from the Apple Store in addition to its previous functions, according to the gift card’s webpage. However, Apple appears to have removed the option to buy the older cards from its website.
Currently, the Apple Gift Card is exclusive to the US. Apple tells The Verge that the gift card will be available through Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. Apple has not said if or when it will offer the card in other countries.
Update July 31st, 11:58AM ET: Added additional information from Apple about the new gift card.
