Owner of Welch Preformance Karting in Maynardville, TN, Jerry Welch passed away suddenly on Monday, September 11, 2023.
Jerry was a lifetime racer with decades of service in the karting community. He will be sorely missed.

“It’s with a heavy heart we mourn the loss of our friend, Jerry Welch…Jerry was the definite article with talent and experience who did the hard work very few are willing to do. He’s a lifetime racer with decades of service in the karting community. Not only as a shop building engines, prepping tires, and selling chassis, he spent nights in the tech barn helping tracks, and he sponsored races and race series. He was always willing to help and did so with positivity and a smile. He never met a stranger, and you left with a friend after you met him,” EC Carburetors wrote in a tribute post on Facebook.
“Today is one of those days you hate to have. Reading alot of my friends’ posts about the man they knew, there is a consistent theme. Jerry Welch wasn’t just a business owner, he was a friend to so many. He did anything he could to help me during my racing days, and I appreciate the friendship he and I had. The karting world lost a staple today, and he will be missed,” another post read.
