Julia Ituma was an Italian women’s volleyball player. She was making waves with her performances on the court and inspiring young people worldwide. She participated in 15 tournaments and 75 matches in her career and received 50 awards. She was ranked 4281 in the world and 239 in 2023.
Julia Ituma was born on 8 October 2004 in Milan, Italy to Nigerian parents Mr. Ituma (Father) and Mrs. Ituma (Mother) who had migrated to Italy before she was born. She grew up playing volleyball, basketball, and track and field.
She passed out with good grades from high school and enrolled at the University of Bologna to pursue study in sports science. Her father is of Nigerian descent whereas her mother is of Italian descent that’s why Julia was of mixed heritage and Nigerian-Italian ethnicity.

She started her international career by representing Italy at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship in Durango, Mexico in 2021 where she recorded a match-high 23 points in the semifinals against the United States.
She also played for Italy at the U20 World Championship in Belgium and the Netherlands. She won the gold medal at the 2021 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship and her name was given to the Tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Julia Ituma dies after falling from the 6th Floor in Turkey
Julia Ituma was found dead at her hotel in Istanbul, Turkey on 13 April 2023 in the morning. She passed away after falling from a hotel window. She fall from the window just hours after her team was eliminated from the Champions League semi-finals.
She was representing her team Igor Gorgonzola Novara in their 2nd leg knockout match against Turkish side Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul.
Julia was found unresponsive and motionless on the ground outside the Valley Hotel at around 5:30 am. Paramedics Wiand emergency responders were called and they arrived at hte scene.
They declared her dead. Local police have started an investigation into her death. Police sent her body for forensic examination in order to ensure the cause of her death.
