Lost outlook’s search tab here’s how to restore it

My Office has received some updates earlier today, and now the search bar is missing from Outlook. I’ve tried using auto repair and re-installing but nothing seems to work. Any idea?

Follow the below steps to add search in your Outlook.

1. For a start, go to “File” menu and select “Options”.
2. Then locate and click on “Customize Ribbon”.
3. You will see a vast variety of commands, tabs and ribbons listed in dialog boxes.
What you should do is to select “Tools Tabs” in the field of “Choose Commands
from”. At the same time, in the field of “Customize the Ribbon”, you should select
the “Main Tab”.

Restore deleted meetings or contacts from Deleted Items folder

If you deleted a meeting from the specified Calendar/Contact folder by accident in Microsoft Outlook, you can restore it from Delete Items folder with following steps.

Step 1: Open the folder view in the Navigation Pane with pressing the Ctrl + 6 keys in a meantime.

Step 2: Open the Deleted Items folder, find out the deleted meeting or contact, and then drag it to the original Calendar/Contact folder.

Note: If you are not familiar with dragging items to other folders, you can right click the deleted meeting or contact, and then select the Move > Other Folder.

Delete an item from the Deleted Items folder.

Empty the Deleted Items folder.

Permanently delete an item from the Inbox or from another folder by selecting it and pressing Shift+Delete.

In Outlook, go to your email folder list, and then select Deleted Items.

Important: If you don’t see the Deleted Items folder, but instead see the Trash folder, your account doesn’t support recovering an item that’s no longer in your Deleted Items folder.

Note that the Deleted On date specifies when items were permanently deleted (by using Shift+Delete) or when they were removed from the Deleted Items folder.

All items in the Recoverable Items folder—including contacts, calendar items, and tasks—are represented by the same envelope icon.

If you’re looking for a contact, sort by the Subject column, and then look for the name of the person. You can also sort by the From column to look for blank entries. This is because contacts don’t have a From field.

If you’re looking for a calendar appointment or a task, sort by the From column, and then look for your name.

To recover multiple items, press CTRL as you select each item, then select Restore Selected Items. You can also recover multiple adjacent items by selecting the first item, holding down the Shift key, and then selecting the last item that you want to recover.

Your administrator may have specified how long items in the Recoverable Items folder are available for recovery. For example, there may be a policy that deletes anything that’s been in your Deleted Items folder for 30 days, and another policy that lets you recover items in the Recoverable Items folder for up to another 14 days.

After the recovery period expires, your administrator may still be able to recover an item. If you can’t find the item in the Recoverable Items folder, ask your administrator whether it can be recovered. If neither of you can find the item, the item was probably permanently deleted from your mailbox and can’t be recovered.

When you delete multiple Outlook items, you can see them listed in the Deleted items folder. If you must recover the items, you can return them only to the following folders.

Restore archived information in Outlook

For restore archived information, please do as follows.

1. Please click File > Open > Import in Outlook 2010;

In Outlook 2013, please click FILE > Open & Export > Inport/Export.

If you are using Outlook 2007, please click File > Import and Export.

2. In the Import and Export Wizard, please select Import from another program or file, and then click the Next button.

3. In the Import a File dialog box, please select Outlook Data File (.pst) in the Select file type to import from box, and then click the Next button.

Note: In Outlook 2007, please select Personal Folder File (.pst) in the Select file type to import from box, then click the Next button.

4. In the popping up Import Outlook Data File dialog box, please click the Browse button. See screenshot:

5. Then an Open Outlook Data Files dialog box pop up. By default, the Outlook Files folder is opened automatically, select an archive file you need to restore its information, and then click the Open button. See screenshot:

Note: If the Outlook Files folder is not opened automatically, please find and open it manually.

6. When it returns to the Import Outlook Data File dialog box, please select an option you need under Options, and then click the Next button.

Note:

If the Archive folder is showing in the Navigation Pane, after clicking Next button, there will be a prompt box popping up, please click the OK button.

Then cancel the Importing, close the archive folder in the Navigation Pane. See screenshot:

And then begin importing from the very beginning step above.

7. In the next Import Outlook Data File dialog box, you need to:

1). Select the folder which you want to restore from the archive folder in the Select the folder to import from box;

2). If you want to Import items into the current folder, please check the Import items into the current folder option;

And if you want to Import items into the same folder in an account, please check the Import items into the same folder in option, and then select the email account from the drop-down list.

3). Then click the Finish button.

Note: The Include subfolders is optional for your own needs.

After clicking the Finish button, all items which existing in the selected folder are restored to the Outlook folder you have configured above automatically.

Notes:

1. If there are multiple accounts existing in your Outlook, and all accounts are archiving, you cannot distinguish which archive folder belongs to the exact account.

2. The finally restored folder depends on the settings in step 7.
