To promote "The Santa Clauses" on Disney+ and discuss his time working on it, Tim Allen appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" on November 21, 2022. He also touched on his reason for returning to the long-dormant Christmas franchise — and it wasn't just to make commentary on the overblown "Happy Holidays" versus "Merry Christmas" debate. Allen wanted to fill in plot holes left unresolved in "The Santa Clause," saying, "I never understood, even in the movie, why the elves, when I showed up at the North Pole, didn't go, 'Hey, what happened to the other guy?'"
Additionally, Allen and the minds behind "The Santa Clauses" wanted to give Mrs. Claus — as portrayed by Elizabeth Mitchell — some time in the spotlight. "Why [doesn't] Mrs. Claus have a name? What is her first name? So we came up with this script, 'The Clauses.' I have a family now. They fill up the holes in all this," Allen continued. With that, it seems like "The Santa Clauses" will be an excellent way to not only spread some holiday cheer but tie up any loose ends that the prior three "Santa Clause" films may have left behind. "The Santa Clauses" will run for a total of six episodes.
"The Santa Clauses" is currently streaming exclusively on Disney+, with new episodes dropping every Wednesday.
