Megan Thee Stallion hit by car joke goes viral

A joke has been spreading around Twitter recently that says Megan Thee Stallion has been hit by a car.

The joke started when someone tweeted a disturbing video of a horse that had been thrown through a car windscreen and killed.

Twitter users were joking that the horse was Megan Thee Stallion, as her stage name includes the word ‘stallion’ which also means horse.

Warning: Some viewers may find this video disturbing.

‘Offensive’ video gets backlash

Whilst some people began to laugh at the joke, others found it hugely offensive towards the Savage rapper.

One Twitter user said: “Lmfao this is not a horse joke? There is not reason why you should see this image of a horse getting hit possibly dead and think it’s funny to say I hope Megan Thee Stallion is ok bc of a stage name.”

Others claimed that the joke wasn’t just referring to Megan’s stage name ‘stallion’ it was also a racist joke, comparing Megan who is Black to the brown horse.

Another person said: “Quoting a video of a horse that was hit by a car and saying it was Megan Thee Stallion because of her name. Something racist about comparing a black woman to an animal.”

Where did the name ‘Megan Thee Stallion’ come from?

Some might find it a little odd that Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, chose to use a word related to a horse in her stage name. However, the real reason is actually really nice.

Her stage name is actually an ode to her tall and toned figure. When she was growing up, boys at school began calling her ‘stallion’ as she was 5 ft 10 inches tall and had the perfect curvy body.

In an interview with Houstonia magazine in 2017, she said: ““Since I was younger, probably about 15 or 16, I’ve always had the same body. Older guys would always be like, ‘Oh, you a stallion’. So I finally had to ask like, is that a good thing?”

She then went home and asked her uncle if that term was a good thing, and he replied “that means you’re tall and fine”. Ever since then, Megan decided that she liked the name and began using it.

So, calling Megan a ‘stallion’ isn’t offensive, but linking her to a dead horse certainly is.
