Wally Tatomir was born in 1946 in Leamington, Ontario, Canada and he died at the age of 76 at Boone, Watauga County, North Carolina, United States of America. It has been 25 years since the Hurricanes of the National Hockey League moved to North Carolina, and this year celebrates the anniversary of that move. Wally had a heart attack while vacationing in Florida.
Wally worked with ice hockey equipment for more than 30 years. He spent several years in the Ontario Hockey League with the Detroit Junior Red Wings and the Windsor Spitfires. He was the head equipment manager for the Canadian National Junior Team at the 1987 World Championship.
In the NHL, Wally previously worked as an equipment consultant for the Los Angeles Kings. Wally joined the Carolina Hurricanes in 1994 and won the Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes for the 2005–06 NHL season.
