Norma Jeane, who was popularly known as Marilyn Monroe, was an extremely popular and sought-after actress, singer, and model of her time in the United States. She became famous for her sensual characters in the 1950s and early 1960s and for being a comedic “blonde bombshell”. Jeane was born to Gladys Pearl Baker (mother) and her co-worker and lover Charles Stanley Gifford (father). Her parents worked together and started dating in 1925, when Gladys was still married to her second husband, though they were separated.

However, after a few years, Gladys let Jeane be adopted by Albert Bolender and his wife Ida Bolender and was forced to move to the city for a job. It was only after Gladys bought a small house in Hollywood that she moved in with her daughter Jeane.

In January 1934, Gladys suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and had to depend on medication and hospitalization for the rest of her life until she died. Jeane was born on 1st June 1926 in Los Angeles, California, United States. Her full name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, and she was also known as Norma Jeane Baker. She is known to have been brought up at foster homes and an orphanage in Los Angeles during her childhood days.

Jeane passed away on 4th August 1962 at the age of 36 at her home in Los Angeles, California after an overdose of barbiturates. She was suffering from mental illness, and drug abuse for several years before her death.

Jeane was married three times, her first husband was James Dougherty (police officer) whom she married in 1942 but got divorced four years later in 1946.
