In a recent interview with Variety, actor Patrick Fabian discussed the latest developments concerning Howard in the "Better Call Saul" Season 6 episode "Black and Blue." Fabian also offered an answer as to whether the series will establish where Howard is and what he's up to during the "Breaking Bad" timeline.
When asked whether the series finale will explain where Howard is once Saul meets up with Walter White, Fabian replied, "Yeah, absolutely. I think so. You'll definitely know where Howard is."
Fabian provided no extra clues, and it's anyone's guess where his character is headed after the out-of-left-field boxing sequence in "Black and Blue," which shows that the character is distinctly finished putting up with Saul and Kim Wexler's antics concerning his career. In the episode, Howard hires a private investigator to tail Saul after their boxing match, convinced that Saul and Kim will not resolve to stop messing with his life even after he literally beats Saul down in a fair fight. He, of course, is not wrong. The rest of the episode indicates Saul and Kim have something even worse planned for Howard. It also remains to be seen what will happen if Howard's private eye is spotted by Mike Ehrmantraut's men, who are also keeping an eye on Saul and Kim for signs of Lalo.
In "Better Call Saul," actions have consequences, and though Howard is just trying to defend himself, he may not like what he finds if he continues to investigate Saul and Kim himself.
