Here is how to apply for the Phase II of the Youth in Export Programme (YIEP). The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) invites applications from interested persons for participation in Phase II of the Youth in Export Programme (YIEP).

The Youth In Export Programme is open to Ghanaian graduates of tertiary institutions who have the passion for Agriculture or Arts & Crafts to acquire on-the-job training with experience and successful exporters in either of the two sectors stated below for a period of six months after which the trainees would be provided with inputs to setup their own businesses and produce for exports.

YIEP is aimed at attracting the youth into the agriculture, arts & crafts sector with the view pf creating more avenues for the youth to earn decent jobs while contributing to Ghana’s exports.

About YIEP

  • The Youth in Export Programme (YiEP) is an initiative being implemented by Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) in collaboration with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
  • The Program is aimed at attracting the youth into agriculture, as well as encourage them to take up farming as a career through a conscious six (6) month hands-on training provided by seasoned farmer-exporters on the production of selected crops for exports.
  • The Phase 1 of the Youth in Export Programme was launched in the last quarter of 2019 in partnership with the Youth Employment Agency.
  • A total of sixty-seven (67) shortlisted applications were received for the Youth in Export Programme and after final evaluation by a panel, twenty (20) successful applicants were finally selected for the programme.

YIEP – Crops To Be Produced For Export

Agricultural products to be produced are:

  • Pineapple
  • Papaya
  • Vegetables (chili, okra, aubergine)
  • Sweet potato.

YIEP Coverage Arears For Training and Production

Selected areas for training and production of the aforementioned products are:

  • Eastern Region: Nsawam, Aburi, Suhum
  • Central Region: Ekumfi
  • Volta Region: Togorme, Kpando and Dzodze

YIEP – Products To Be Produced For Export

Arts & craft products such as

  • Beads
  • Straw (bolga) baskets
  • leather products.

YIEP Coverage Arears For Training and Production

Identified areas of training and production for the aforementioned products are:

  • Greater Accra: Accra
  • Eastern Region: Krobo Odumasi

YIEP – Qualifications

  • A minimum of SSCE Certificate
  • You must be between the ages of 18-35
  • You must have the passion for farming or arts & crafts
  • You must submit a business proposal on any of the products listed below in either the agriculture or arts & crafts sector.
  • You must reside in or near the identified districts and towns where the programme is being implemented.

YIEP Application Procedures : How To Apply

  • Interested and qualified persons should address applications to the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Export Promotion Authority and submit to GEPA’s Head Office or any of its Regional Offices in the Eastern, Central and Volta regions.
  • Participants are required to include their full names, email addresses as well as a copy of a National ID in all submissions.

YIEP Recruitment Deadline

  • Applications are to be submitted not later than Monday, 11th July, 2022
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted or considered.
