February is Black History Month and to celebrate it, we are sharing our list of our favorite 5 Black Owned Businesses in Lincoln.

It is no coincidence that they are all food-related. When the pandemic began, our family embraced Take Out Tuesday and found so many new restaurants that are regular stops for us now. If you want to see locally owned restaurants in Lincoln then make it a point to go to them. Your dollars matter to them!

1) Stur 22 Caribbean and African Kitchen
I could basically eat the fried plantains at every meal from Stur 22! Recently, the two locations merged into one location at 1320 O Street. If you go on wing night (Thursdays) plan to eat until you are stuffed. The wings are phenomenal.

2) Screamers Dining and Cabaret
Screamers is a unique dining experience with live musical performances while you dine. It isn't just dinner but an entire night of fun!

3) Mary Ellen's: Food For The Soul
Great news-Mary Ellen's now has a store front. Previously you had to track down their food truck. If you see their food truck, pull over! I love their catfish and my husband always chooses their ribs. Their store front is located at 2801 Pine Lake Rd.

4) A Taste of Louisiana
Just reading the menu will make you hungry: gumbo chicken and sausage, cajun fried rice, and cajun fried chicken. Located at 2310 north 1st.

5) FlyDogz
Two words: gourmet hotdogs.
