I am a care giver for my mother n law who have dementia. She has developed burping for about 3 months now. She had the test with camera in her stomached and esophagus looked at and her tests came back normal. Doc prescribed meds for it and meds not helping. Even biopsy was normal. After her test was done and I told her nothing is wrong in her stomach to cause her burping, she was happy and she stopped for 2 weeks. Then she started back again. She keep saying there is something in her stomach. She want to see another doc. Doctor said it’s her anxiety which makes her burp. Doc said there nothing they can do. Some days the burping is so bad and loud. I do notice that she makes herself burp and if you tell her to stop she will stop for a little bit then start at it again then get louder. If she’s busy doing something she won’t burp. Soon as she quiet she start again. Have anybody ever experienced this with a dementia patient?
