Bluetooth 5.0 is so cool. It lets you do things with Bluetooth audio that have been on our wish lists for a long time—like separate the audio from a specific app (say, Music) and only play it over a Bluetooth connection, keeping other media audio (like navigation sounds) on the phone.

The Galaxy S8 is the first phone to have this feature, so it’s probably a new one for many users—in fact, I’d bet there’s a fair share of S8 users out there who may not even know this feature exists! Here’s what it is and how to enable it.

On the S8, this feature is called “Separate Sound App,” and at first blush it’s a little bit confusing what this even means—it’s only after you dig in that it starts to make sense. To get started, pull down the notification shade and tap the gear icon in the upper right corner.

In the Settings menu, jump into Sounds and Vibrations.

Scroll all the way to the bottom and choose Separate Sound App.

Go ahead and tap the toggle in the upper right corner to activate the feature. A popup will appear asking if you want to select an app and audio device. Tap “Select.”

From here, you’ll have to select your app—for this tutorial, I’m using Google Play Music.

The next step will ask you to select your output device—keep in mind that you Bluetooth device has to be connected at this point (it will only show up if it’s connected), so if you haven’t already, go ahead and do that.

Once you’ve selected both the app and output device, everything should be set. Just to make sure, however, go ahead and start playing something from the app you selected above, then pull down the notification shade again.

Tap on “Audio Output,” and make sure “My phone” is selected—this will basically ensure that your selected app is the only thing that can send media audio to the Bluetooth device, and all other apps will play through the phone.

Note: Notification audio isn’t the same as media audio, so this will still come through the Bluetooth device.

It’s also worth noting that if at any point you have this particular Bluetooth device connected and want another app (outside of the pre-selected on in Separate Sound App) to play media audio over Bluetooth, you’ll have to select your Bluetooth device as the primary output source. You can easily do this while the device is playing audio by pulling the notification shade, tapping “Audio output” and selecting your currently-connected Bluetooth device. This will then play all media audio over the Bluetooth connection.

How to use the Samsung Members app

If you are experiencing difficulties with your Samsung mobile, tablet, or wearables, you can send us a question in the Samsung Members app. Find out more about sending an error report.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ has a nice little feature that lets you pick an app and redirect its audio output to a different audio device than normal.

On most smartphones, there’s usually only a way to have one specific audio output source at a time. So for example, if you’re listening to some music through a Bluetooth speaker or headphones, then any notification sounds or other game/app sounds will also come through that source.

This is fine for most cases but Samsung has found a way to add a layer of customization to this entire process on the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

The idea here is to let you set one specific application to a certain output audio source. This way, when you’re playing a game, receive a phone call/text message or are just alerted by a notification sound, all of that audio can be coming through your external phone speaker. However, you could also have this feature set to let your music application (like Spotify, Google Play Music, YouTube, etc.) to be playing through your Bluetooth speaker/headphones while this all happens.

The process is really easy to setup and you should be able to come up with some useful and unique use cases for it.

Galaxy S8 Separate App Sounds

  1. Launch the Settings application
  2. Scroll down and tap on the Sounds and Vibration option
  3. Scroll down to the Advanced section
  4. Tap on the Separate App Sound option
  5. Tap the App option toward the bottom
  6. Browse and tap the application you want to isolate the sounds for
  7. Tap the back button
  8. Tap the Audio Device option
  9. Choose which audio output source you want that app to use
  10. Tap the back button
  11. Then tap the toggle at the top right corner to enable the feature

Explanation

This is one of those feature that really piqued my interest when I learned about it. As I mentioned, not everyone will have a use for this, but it has the potential to be incredibly useful for a number of people. I’m not sure if there was a technical reason as to why Samsung is only limiting this feature to one application at a time though. I can see this being even more useful if you could select multiple applications from the list, but maybe that will come in an update.

To start, we simply need to launch the Settings application and then scroll down to tap on the Sounds and Vibration option. Here, you’ll want to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page until you see the Advanced section. In this section is an option called Separate App Sound and when you tap on it you will be taken to the main area of this feature. It’s here that you will be able to select your application (or game), and then the output source.

So look toward the bottom and tap the App option. This will present you with a list of apps that you can choose from. Tap on one and then tap on the Back button to go back to where you were. Then you’ll want to tap on the Audio Device option and you’ll be given a list of audio output sources to choose from. Tap on the one you want and then tap on the Back button again to go back. From here, the whole thing has been configured and you just need to enable it.

So look up at the top right corner and you’ll see a toggle that you can tap on. This toggle turns the Galaxy S8 Separate App Sounds feature on and off so you’ll always be able to come back here and disable it if you end up not being a fan of it. Once the feature is enabled, you’ll see a notification pop up and you can just swipe it away to dismiss it. It’s just telling you the feature has been enabled so you know it’s working before you test it. So now press the Home button and then test out your new configuration.

Now that the mobile world has made peace with the fact that the headphone jack will go away, the push for Bluetooth music capabilities is harder than ever. Samsung released the Galaxy S8 at the forefront of this technology push, packing it with Bluetooth 5.0 for multi-device playback and a range that is 4 times that of the older generation.

With all of these high-end Bluetooth connectivity features, Galaxy S8 still suffers from Bluetooth issues just like most Android devices do every now and then. The issue has become significantly more prevalent after the release of Android 8.0 Oreo. We’ve compiled a list of tried and tested methods that will help you fix any Bluetooth connectivity issues with your car stereo for good.

  • Step 1: Try the easy fixes
  • Step 2: Pair the Bluetooth device again
  • Step 3: Fixing the Bluetooth app
  • Step 4: Perform a Network Reset

Step 1: Try the easy fixes

Bluetooth connectivity issues are rarely device specific, and neither are the solutions for them. Try starting off, you can try a combination of some of the quick and easy fixes that have stood the test of time.

  • Start things off with the simple reboot. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down button for around 10 seconds until the device turns off and then press the Power button to turn it on again.
  • Toggle off the Bluetooth setting using the notification shade and turn it on again to see if the Bluetooth connectivity issue is fixed.
  • If you have both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on simultaneously, turn off the Wi-Fi toggle to see if it was the radio interference that was causing the issue.

Step 2: Pair the Bluetooth device again

Sometimes the Bluetooth profiles for multiple devices can cause pairing issues, and all you need to do is simply reset the Bluetooth handshake between your Galaxy S8 and the car Bluetooth accessory.

  • If you have successfully paired with the car Bluetooth and are facing playback issues, turn both the devices off.
  • Now turn them back on, and head over to Settings – Bluetooth on your Galaxy S8 and use the Forget button to delete the specific Bluetooth profile.
  • Reboot the device and enable pairing mode on your Galaxy S8 as well as the Bluetooth accessory to create a fresh new connection.

Step 3: Fixing the Bluetooth app

Whether you updated your Galaxy S8 to Android 8.0 or installed an app that requires Bluetooth to work, both these aspects can cause the Bluetooth module to go haywire sometimes. In such a case, all you need to do is get access to the system apps and hit the reset button on your Bluetooth app.

  • From the home screen of your Galaxy S8, head over to Settings – Apps and press the three-dot button to select Show system apps.
  • Scroll down to find Bluetooth and use the Clear Cache button to erase all of your pairing history and start afresh.

This action will also get rid of any residual Bluetooth pairing files and broken elements that could’ve caused the connectivity issues.

Step 4: Perform a Network Reset

If none of the above steps have helped you to resolve the Bluetooth connectivity issue, the only option left is a network reset. This is especially useful for those who have used the Samsung Smart Switch app to transfer data (including Bluetooth connection profiles) from their older Android device to the Galaxy S8.

  • To do so, simply head over to Settings – Backup & resetand scroll down to find theNetwork settings reset
  • Use theReset Networkbutton to confirm your action and you’re all set.

Remember, this will get rid of all your network settings, saved Wi-Fi networks, and Bluetooth profiles. However, this method will most likely fix all of your network connectivity issues for good, so the trade-off is worth it.

V nabídce Nastavení přejděte do části Zvuky a vibrace.

Projděte úplně dolů a zvolte možnost Oddělovat zvuková aplikace.

Než roztrhnete vlasy, projděte si seznam problémů s odstraňováním problémů, abyste vyloučili obvyklé příčiny problémů s nabíjením – a prsty překročeny, vyřešte problém bez zaslání telefonu do služby.

Samsung has a unique feature in the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ that lets you play the audio of an application on a different Bluetooth device. This feature is actually quite convenient for those who always listen to music or watch videos in a certain situation.

Most smartphones these days come with the same hardware as other devices on the market in the same price bracket. For instance virtually all of the flagship smartphones from 2018 will be using the Snapdragon 845 SoC and they will all be equipped with 4GB to 8GB of RAM. We’re even getting to the point where a lot of these devices even look the same and this is becoming especially true with the shift to slim bezels and the notch at the top. It’s this reason why the software on our smartphones are becoming increasingly important.

The casual customer may thing that the software will be the same across Android devices even if the UI looks a bit different.

This isn’t the case though as some companies choose to keep things clean and optimized while others feel they need to throw in every single feature under the sun. Samsung is well known for this and many people will say their software is incredibly bloated. Having a lot of features isn’t bad in and of itself but it can be an issue if those features actually slow down the performance of the device.

This used to be the case with Samsung and still might be to a small degree, but they’ve been better lately for the most part. However, these extra features are big selling points for a lot of people and today I want to show you one of these unique features that Samsung calls Separate App Sound.

Galaxy S9 Separate App Sound Tutorial

  1. Open up the Settings application
  2. Tap the Sounds and Vibration option
  3. Scroll all the way down to the bottom
  4. And tap on the Separate App Sound option
  5. Tap the App option and choose the media application
  6. Then tap the Audio Device option and choose your external Bluetooth device
  7. Finally, you can tap the toggle at the top to enable the feature

Explanation

This is one of those features that sounds very clever as it is something that can actually be incredibly convenient for a lot of people. However, it’s one of those features that can be difficult to explain too so it’s not something that everyone is aware of. So, let’s talk about the situations in which this feature can be useful. Let’s say you use your smartphone for a lot of things like watching YouTube videos, news clips in the browser, some mobile games and then a music streaming service like Spotify or YouTube Music.

It makes sense to have things like YouTube videos, videos in the browser and even mobile games playing the audio through the dedicated Galaxy S9 speakers. These play sessions don’t generally last a long time and it can be a pain to pull out some headphones or a Bluetooth headset just to watch a 15 second YouTube video. However, when you load up your music streaming playlist you always listen to it in the car, while doing yard work, or doing regular exercise routines. Normally you would then need to tell Android to switch the audio destination from the speakers to your headset.

This isn’t the case anymore with the Galaxy S9 Separate App Sound feature as you can set this stuff up ahead of time. To do this you will need to have your audio device connected and then open up the Settings application. Go into the Sounds and Vibration option and then scroll all the way down to the bottom. From here you will see the Separate App Sound option and it’s here that you will set everything up. So you’ll need to pick an application you want to use it for (such as Spotify, YouTube, Pandora, etc.).

Then you will need to set a specific audio device that you want this audio to be played on. So if we’re playing Spotify each time we get in our car then we tell this to the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+ and it will remember this for us. Then once the toggle is turned on you will never get into your car and hear Spotify playing through the phone’s speakers because you forgot to change the default audio destination. You can use this feature for a lot of other situations though as it’s just a great way to isolate the audio from one application onto a specific device.

This can even be reversed too if you always listen to the audio on a connected Bluetooth device but you don’t want that device used when you watch a YouTube video. Just set it up so the audio destination is the phone and it will remember that for you.

  • I suppose. Not sure if OP5 is capable of that, to be honest.

  • That’s the same thing I want to do. Basically stream music on two devices at the same time. I don’t even know if the Galaxy S8 is capable of doing that or if it also just got streaming the audio to one and everything else to other device.

So current solution with developer settings just enable this mode. I hope someone will look into it when Oreo gets more spread.

Bluetooth connection and smart gadgets have become more common in most households. On the other hand, the iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones in the world. While a Bluetooth speaker connected to your iPhone will never provide surround sound, there are methods to improve the system. More applications and iOS upgrades are being created to enable the device’s ability to Connect Multiple Bluetooth Speakers with a single device.

Two Bluetooth speakers may be connected to later model iPhones or an app can be used to allow the speakers to piggyback off of each other. However, if you have an earlier model, you won’t be able to do it.

Simply said, some iPhone models, particularly newer ones like the iPhone Pro Max 12, allow you to connect several Bluetooth speakers. Additionally, you may use the connect function, albeit it is not compatible with all mobile devices.

When Can You Connect Multiple Bluetooth Speakers to an iPhone?

If you are running one of the latest iPhone models, Bluetooth 5 will probably make it easy to plug two speakers together with a projector. This covers iPhones running iOS 11.4 and subsequent versions of the operating system, as well as S8 devices (such as the Samsung Galaxy). However, if your mobile device only supports Bluetooth 4.2, you’ll only have a 10 to 30 meter audio range.

You can only connect one speaker to your phone at a time. If you don’t have the sort of mobile phone or Bluetooth speaker required to do this task, there are other solutions. An extra speaker can be connected with an application, for example Bose Connect, AmpMe, or Ultimate Ears.

How to Connect Multiple Bluetooth Speakers to Iphone

As I said before, there are still ways you can add another speaker when your mobile phone doesn’t have Bluetooth 5’s simple connectivity. Apps need to be downloaded and some set-up procedures followed. Bear in mind, however, that all of them are not equal, so the best choice is generally based on the model of iPhone you use.

    AmpMe App

For several Bluetooth speaker hookups, AmpMe is the first and the primary choice for our specialists. Because it is not a brand-specific app, it is compatible with a wider range of items than other choices.

You may sync AmpMe together and play audio from multiple music streaming programmes, such as Spotify, Amazon Music, etc. on two devices such as your Android and iOS smartphones with your Bluetooth speaker.

One of the nicest advantages about AmpMe is that it is not limited to your phone’s number of devices. It also allows you to join or create your own parties on various music applications.

AmpMe is incredibly simple to use, and all it needs is a Facebook or Google connection. You may also allow guest djs to add tracks and invite others to participate in the party after you connect to and make the playlist.

    How to Set-Up AmpMe

After you’ve installed the app, you’ll only need to follow four simple steps to start a party.

    • Select the Plus (+) symbol.
    • Chose the music provider you wish to utilize, such as YouTube or Spotify, and then connect.
    • Obtain access to your music library.
    • Create a playlist or choose one that has already been created.

    Bose Connect and Ultimate Ears

Bose Connect and Ultimate Ears are examples among these applications. You may connect your phone to a dual audio speaker or pick Last Ears in order to set up two speakers.

Of course, Bose works exclusively with Bose speakers and Bose headphones, with Boom and MegaBoom speakers work for Ultimate Ears.

The compatibility factor is the difficulty with our specialists using brand-specific gear. You know not if your apps function with your headphones and phones, but you have a list of compatible devices in the app storage facility to save your problem.

    Samsung Dual Audio Feature

In the Samsung Galaxy S8 and beyond models, Samsung also has a dual audio feature. It is a Bluetooth connection which uses Bluetooth Dual audio Feature from Samsung, which works in conjunction with most Bluetooth speakers and headphones on the market.

It is straightforward to do, and can be accessed immediately on your Samsung phones. To activate the functionality, touch Bluetooth and then click on Settings. The feature can be activated in Android Pie through the advanced choices.

    To Enable This Feature:

    1. Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth.
    2. Tap Advanced in Android Pie. Tap the menu icon (3 vertical dots) in the upper-right corner of previous Android versions.
    3. Toggle the Dual Audio switch on.
    4. Pair the phone with two speakers, two headphones, or one of each to use Dual Audio, and audio will be streamed to both.
    5. The first paired device will be turned off if you add a third.

    HomePod Stereo Pair

Apple offers a function called HomePod Stereo Link that allows customers to pair two HomePod speakers with an iPhone or Mac.

When you connect two HomePods in the same room, you’ll have the option to utilize them as a stereo pair. On an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac, you may use the Home app to set up this function. Both HomePods must be in the same room to pair in any instance.

    How to Enable This Feature:

    1. Double-click or press and hold HomePod in the Home app, then click or tap Settings.
    2. Create a stereo pair by clicking or tapping Create Stereo Pair.
    3. Select a second HomePod from the list.
    4. In the app, there are two HomePod icons. To assign a HomePod to the correct channel, tap or click it (right and left).
    5. Click or tap Back, then Done.

Your HomePod speakers are now synchronized with your iPhone.

  • i am coming from an iPhone X and am now using a Note9. The Phone is absolutely great and i dont want to look back. Everything works fine, everything is really fluid just like it should be. But there is one annoying thing, that bothers me to hell: Bluetooth-Streaming Quality while Playing Music.

I am using several devices via Bluetooth: Bose Soundsport Free, Bose QC35II, Harman Kardon Go+Play and i am listening to Music in my Golf 7 via Bluetooth. Listening to music via the Bose Devices works really good. In the Developer Option, you can see that the Note 9 is using the AAC Codec, which the Bose do support. The Note 9 changes to AAC automatically.

When i am using the Harman Speaker and listening in my car, the Note 9 will stay at SBC (Standard Bluetooth Codec). This isnt really a problem for me, because the iPhone did it too. But the quality is worse on the Note 9 compared to the iPhone. On the Note 9, you can hear cracking noise in the Highs and the sound is overall not very good – the iPhone does this better with SBC (or stays with AAC even when the conneced device does not support it).

I had the same problem last year with my Oneplus 5. But with the OP5, i simply changed the Bluetooth Codec to always be APTX. This totally worked for me, even if the Bluetooth Device didnt support APTX. But on the Note 9, it will always change back to SBC, when i connect my Harman Speaker or my car.

I think it is just a bug. I didnt find a workaround. This is just a simple thing but it bothers me to hell. My mother’s S9 does the same. It just doesnt save the setting.

The reason why i am making a thread is simple: Samsung does have a Samsung Members / Plus / Care (it depends where you are) App, where you can send in bugs, that you found.

Even if this bug doenst bother you, it would be very nice, if you can send in a request for changing this behaviour. That would help me (and maybe others), so that the Bluetooth Listening Experience will be as good as the Rest of the phone.

    Thanks for the help.

If anyone knows a workaround for my problem – please let me know. At this stage, i cannot use my Harman Speaker und my Car Audio via Bluetooth.
