Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya Incident Arc stood out as a highlight in anime storytelling in 2023, but behind the scenes, the animators faced immense challenges.
Reports suggest that MAPPA’s working conditions placed significant strain on the creators, leaving them with insufficient time to produce their best work while grappling with tight deadlines.
However, with the recent release of “Jujutsu Kaisen’s” Blu-Ray in Japan, it appears that the MAPPA animators have been granted the opportunity to refine the series and address some of the issues from the Shibuya Incident Arc.

Jujutsu Kaisen Blu-ray
Riding on the success of the Shibuya Incident Arc and the Hidden Inventory Arc, MAPPA wasted no time in confirming a third season. Continuing to follow the manga faithfully, the upcoming season will get into “The Culling Game,” an arc stemming directly from Suguru Geto’s sinister schemes.
While some heroes managed to survive the events of Shibuya, the world has become a harsher place for Yuji Itadori and his comrades, many of whom find themselves estranged from their former home at Jujutsu Tech.
Although it may be years before the third season hits screens, manga enthusiasts are confident it will be well worth the wait.

“Jujutsu Kaisen’s” Season 2 Blu-Ray brought about significant changes, notably in the depiction of the iconic Black Flash technique.
While Yuji Itadori has made it his signature move, he’s not the only one wielding this cursed technique. In the Blu-Ray release, fans can witness how the animators refined the technique during the Shibuya Incident Arc, particularly in Todo’s adept utilization of it.
While the anime may be on hiatus after the conclusion of season two, the manga continues to unfold an intense battle. Creator Gege Akutami has hinted at setting the stage for the final arc, which could entail the demise of several characters as the stakes continue to escalate.
Hopefully, when the third season eventually debuts, Studio MAPPA will afford their animators more time to tackle “The Culling Game.”
