The CW’s Walker is getting a spinoff prequel to show the origins of the current hit in the late 1800s called Walker Independence. Kat McNamara (Shadowhunters, Arrow) stars as the lead wealthy Bostonian Abby Walker, and Matt Barr (Blood & Treasure) stars as a con artist with a possible sweet streak Hoyt Rawlins.

Saturday morning at the ATX Festival, attendees were treated to the first episode of the series, followed by a panel. According to Deadline, who spoke to Kat McNamara after the panel, the actress says her character Abby is a badass “woman who is making a future for herself in a new town with the help of a diverse group of strangers.” McNamara went on to speak more about her character.
“Something that drew me to this project is the fact that Abby is not your traditional woman in the West. She has the strong grit that you often see in these female characters but [the writers] don’t shy away from putting her through the wringer as well,… She has a huge range of vulnerability and strength throughout this whole story. And there’s a lot more to be discovered about her.”
Before Austin, there was Independence. #WalkerIndependence is coming this Fall to The CW.
