Moe Gibbs Wife:- A prison officer named Moe Gibbs from the Barnes County Jail was found guilty in 2007 of killing Mindy Morgenstern, a 22-year-old student at Valley City State University.
In September 2006, Morgenstern was discovered dead in her apartment, strangled and with deep wounds to her neck. He had previously entered guilty pleas in connection with other s*xual assault cases before his conviction for murder.
Moe Gibbs Wife
In contrast to what he told police, Moe Gibbs’ ex-wife testified during his second murder trial on Friday that she was not present when the former Barnes County jailer scratched his hands.
This Monday, a Valley City, North Dakota, police detective testified that Gibbs informed them Chrissy Judd was there when he hurt his hands.
According to Gibbs, he damaged his right hand when placing Judd’s daughter into or out of a car seat and his left hand while carrying boxes, according to Detective Mark McDonald.
Authorities
Gibbs was Morgenstern’s neighbour at the time, and DNA evidence taken from the victim’s fingernails helped to connect him to the crime. Authorities also discovered at the time that he had done time in jail in a separate attempted murder case from 1994 to 1998.
This Friday, February 10, 2023, NBC’s Dateline will explore Mindy Morgenstern’s murder in further detail in a forthcoming episode. At 9 p.m. ET, the Who Killed Mindy Morgenstern? episode will air on the network.
Arrested
Based on DNA evidence found under the victim’s left-hand fingernails, authorities made the arrest. Additionally, an unsolved r*pe case from two years prior to Morgenstern’s murder had a match with his DNA.
The disgraced prison officer subsequently got engaged to his girlfriend Amy Olson after his incarceration, who continuously insisted that she was innocent of the charges.
The ex-girlfriends of Gibbs testified at his trial as key witnesses. One of them even asserted that she ended her relationship with him due to his pattern of infidelity.
Verdict
According to reports, Moe Gibbs was convicted of killing a 22-year-old man and was given a life sentence without the possibility of parole. He is currently incarcerated at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck.
Moe Gibbs, a 35-year-old prison officer at the Barnes County jail, shared an apartment with his wife, who was pregnant, and his stepdaughter at the time of the sad murder of Mindy Morgenstern. However, he was no longer with her when he was detained and accused of killing the 22-year-old.
The DNA Report
The DNA results were returned on September 18, five days after Mindy’s passing. Moe Gibbs’ DNA was found to match that taken from under Mindy’s nails. Moe was requested to visit the police once more, but this time for a polygraph examination.
The examiner informed Moe that his responses were incoherent and inquired as to how his DNA would have been discovered beneath Mindy’s fingernails. Moe claimed he was never in her place and that he didn’t know.
