Naturally, between all the break-ups and make-ups that come with combining married life with secret spy missions, audiences will be watching for winks or nods to the 2005 film in the new "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." According to Francesca Sloane, the new show is riddled with confirming where these Smiths sit in the timeline. "Even though our show is obviously its own thing and has its own tone, there are some Easter eggs to allude to the fact that it is still within that same world," Sloane said, keeping cryptic just like any good spy would. "So yeah, that is absolutely still a part of it. You know, there's like a timeline thing when one of the characters comes into play in Episode Four. That kind of is when the film came out."
It sounds like audiences won't even need to wait very long for the show to take the baton from 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." Sloane explained, "The very beginning of the pilot ... is sort of like a nod to the film, and there are little easter eggs throughout that are also nods to the film. It's there. It's just our version of that world." You can see how the new happy couple handles themselves when "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" arrives on Prime Video on February 2.
