The scene in question comes to us from Season 3, Episode 1, titled "The Rickshank Redemption." This particular episode sees Rick in a galactic prison for the very worse the universe has to offer, but it was all according to plan so that he can get access to a Galactic Federation mainframe computer.
Both his grandchildren, Morty and Summer (Spencer Grammer), come to his rescue and speculate about how Rick will defeat the Galactic Federation by suggesting things like turning their own weapons of mass destruction against them, to which Rick replies that he is almost proud to have them as his grandchildren. Instead, Rick defeats the Federation by devaluing their currency, which has an immediate and devastating effect.
The Reddit post received an explosion of comments in agreement, with u/weedemout writing, "Something so simple too. Morty and Summer were thinking of some great but complex ideas but a simple switch of a number caused everything to collapse. & then they were making jeans the next source of payment lol. Could be us one day."
u/ryegye24 finished the conversation by stating, "My favorite part of that, especially juxtaposed with what Morty and Summer were thinking, is that Rick could have done something 'Rick' to take out the IGF. He could have melted them all or sucked them all into a blackhole. But this particular way of destroying them only worked because of everything Rick already hated about the IGF."
