Tom Brady is known as one of the best quarterbacks the NFL has ever seen, but it was his 15-year-old son John “Jack” Edward Thomas Moynahan who gave him his favorite name: dad.
Brady and his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan had their son Jack in 2007, not long after they broke up in 2006. Brady had already moved on with supermodel Gisele Bündchen, and he told Howard Stern in 2020 that Moynahan’s pregnancy was a surprise.
“The next thing I knew, Bridget was pregnant with our son,” he said. “So it was a very special time… And again, it forced me to grow up in a different way in many ways. My wife found it hard to believe that she loved this guy, and now his ex-girlfriend is pregnant.”
“And it was very hard for my son’s mom, you know because she didn’t plan for that either,” he added. Still, Brady took the challenge in stride and loves being Jack’s dad, calling him “the best kid you could ever ask for.”
And now that Jack has grown up to be just like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he feels the same way about his dad. Jack Was Born on August 22, 2007
At the St. John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica, California, Moynahan and Brady gave birth to their only child. Brady was excited to become a dad even before he was born. In February 2007, Tom’s agent, Don Yee, said in a statement, “Tom and his family are excited about the pregnancy.”
A friend of Moynahan’s told sources that she was “so excited about the pregnancy” because she “knew she would be a great mom.”
Fans knew the baby was coming when Brady didn’t show up to practice on the same day and The Boston Globe said that Patriots owner Robert Kraft let Brady use his private jet to get across the country faster.
Moynahan had given birth to her son by the end of the day. Christina Papadopoulos, who works as her publicist, told sources that both the mother and the baby are doing well.
In 2011, the actress talked about Jack’s birth in more depth. She told More magazine that Tom wasn’t in the room where she gave birth. “He was there that day and then came in later. He wasn’t holding my hand while I pushed, that’s for sure.”
Brady and Moynahan Tried Hard to Be Good Co-Parents
Even though Jack mostly lived with his mother as a child, it was still important to both of his parents that he was close with Brady and Bündchen, who was then Brady’s wife.
Moynahan told More in 2011 that her son has two loving parents and a big family, including cousins, stepmothers, and boyfriends. “Love is all around my son.”
She wanted to keep it that way, and she explained that she has “a daily relationship with [Brady and Bündchen]… These dramas are made up by the media, and that’s not how my life is going.”
Years later, in 2019, Moynahan said that she was thankful that Brady’s ex-wife helped raise Jack. She told PEOPLE, “Tom and I decided to raise a child together, and we both found partners who not only helped us raise that child but also loved him as if he were their own.” “I don’t know what else you could want. Jack and Bündchen Have Always Had a Close Relationship
In 2015, Bündchen said that she almost broke up with Brady when she found out that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant after only a few months of dating. During an interview with Charlie Rose on CBS This Morning, she said, “It was hard because here I am dating this guy and everything is going great, and then this happens.” “Then I felt like I didn’t know what to do… Do I just run away?”
Instead, she chose to stick with it, and she is happy with how things turned out. Now, eight years later, she said, “I think I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter bonus child.”
In February 2020, she talked more about how close they were. When a fan on Instagram asked her how it felt to be Jack’s stepmother, she said, “I don’t like the word ‘stepmom.’ I like the word “bonus mom” because I feel like having her in my life is a blessing. I feel so lucky to have a little angel who is even better than most.”

In March 2023, Bündchen told Vanity Fair that Jack’s presence in her life “awoke” her desire to be a mother.

Since Birth, Jack and His Brother Ben Have Been Best Friends
Benjamin, Jack’s younger brother, was born on Dec. 8, 2009, just two years after Jack. From the start, the boys were good friends. In 2010, just before Ben’s first birthday, Bündchen told sources, “I feel very lucky.”
She said, “For Benjamin, his older brother is his hero.” “When Jack walks in, Benjamin gives him a big smile. He wants to hang out with him. Everything he does makes him feel like, “Oh my God!”

In October 2021, Brady told a funny story about how he took Jack, who was 11 at the time, to a wild party with Snoop Dogg.
“It was 12 o’clock. Our hotel was where it was. So we had this special place on the stage, “Brady remembered when Snoop was a guest on his Let’s Go! podcast on SiriusXM.
