Michel Escoto was given a life sentence in May 2014 and is presently incarcerated.

He was accused of killing his wife, Wendy, just a few days after they got married. His girlfriend said she helped him do it.

During his sentencing hearing, Escoto refused to say that he was the one who killed his wife.

Michel Escoto: Who Is He? The Wife Killer’s bio on Wikipedia

Michael, who is 50 years old, was accused of killing his wife, Wendy Trapaga, in 2002 to get her $1 million life insurance policy.

He married Windy at Miami Beach City Hall, but no one else was there. The 28-year-old bride was so in love with her groom that she couldn’t wait to get married. On the other hand, it wasn’t clear why Escoto wanted to marry her.

In the same way, Wendy didn’t see the dark side of this and got married to Michel as soon as she could. She had signed a life insurance policy, and four days after getting married, her body was found.

Many of Wendy’s family members also spoke in court. The victim’s mother, Myriam Benitez, chose to speak directly to Escoto.

She told Michel that when he married her daughter and killed her, he ruined her life.

Myriam added, “On Mother’s Day, many of you will get lots of kisses from your kids. I have to go put flowers on the grave of my daughter. She had nothing to do with it.”

What’s become of Michel Escoto? Status following an arrest

Escoto is being kept in a prison for men in Punta Gorda, Florida, called the Charlotte Correctional Institution. Trapaga’s family will probably spend the rest of his life there as they mourn her untimely death.

Even though Escoto did the wrong thing in 2002, he wasn’t caught until 2005. When Escoto sued Trapaga to get back a $1 million life insurance policy that Trapaga bought when the two started living together, the authorities started to doubt his story.

During a trial in 2005, he gave different versions of what happened in order to get the life insurance claim. By doing this, he put himself in the middle of the story.

Thefreelibrary.com says that Michel has been in jail since May 2014, when he was given a life sentence. He had been sent to jail for 30 days before.

In 2014, Escoto went to court on his own behalf and pleaded “not guilty” to first-degree murder. Yolanda Cerillo’s testimony helped the judge and jury figure out what would happen to Trapaga.

Accused of killing his wife Wendy Trapaga and a former girlfriend

In 2005, Michael and his ex-girlfriend Yolanda Cerrillo were arrested for causing Wendy’s death and killing her.

Myriam Benitez was her daughter Wendy’s personal representative and heir. She was also the one who fought for Wendy’s death to be fair.

David C. Miller was the judge in the murder case, which went on for two days. In the same way, the jury deliberated for four hours. In the same way, the $44,000,000 case was filed on September 4, 2013, and the settlement was done in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court. Myriam Benitez and the Estate of Wendy Marie Trapaga, whose lawyer was Yolanda Cerrillo, were the two people in the case.

Michel’s ex-girlfriend says that they planned to kill Trapaga. Escoto tried to drug Trapaga on their honeymoon by putting crushed Percocet in her drink and then drowning her in the bathtub while making it look like an accident.

Trapaga didn’t trust the drink because it was cloudy, so this plan didn’t work. A few days later, Escoto tried to drown Trapaga again in a Jacuzzi at the Executive Airport Motel in Miami, but she fought him off. So, he killed her that night with a tire iron in front of a warehouse.
